The order has been issued by Chief Minister Karunanidhi

Updated - October 17, 2016 08:26 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Four classes a week will be set apart for teaching minority languages such as Urdu, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu and Arabic in schools covered under the Uniform System of School Education (Samacheer Kalvi).

The order has been issued by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

Textbooks

This follows Mr. Karunanidhi's assurance at a public meeting organised by the Indian Union of Muslim League last week.

Textbooks will be prepared for teaching subjects in these languages.

Apart from holding examinations for such subjects, mark sheets will indicate marks scored by students in minority languages, according to a press release issued on Wednesday.
