Several tall Congress leaders resigned following in the footsteps of Ajay Maken, former Union Minister and the face of the Congress’ campaign, after the humiliating defeat in the Assembly elections. The party’s Delhi in-charge P.C. Chacko and president of Delhi unit Arvinder Singh tendered their resignations to national chief Sonia Gandhi.

“Taking moral responsibility for what happens to be our worst-ever performance not only in Delhi but since its inception, all senior leaders who were associated with the campaign have tendered their resignations,” a senior leader said.
