Priyanka Chopra never had it so good. Her TV show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi' has garnered a big following on the small screen, and she's enjoying every bit of her new-found success. On the film front too, the actor couldn't have asked for more this season. As her latest flick Anjaana Anjaani with Ranbir Kapoor kindles as much interest as her upcoming film for Anurag Basu. In an interview, Priyanka gets candid about her work and life. Excerpts:

You are sporting a tan…

Yeah, that has more to do with my Brazil trip for my TV show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi'. Also I had gone to Phuket for a short trip, so the tan.

‘Khatron Ke Khiladi' has garnered a massive opening.

I know. It was just a four-week show, but I'm happy I did it. It has opened the gates to a lot of people, it was damn exciting.

You were visibly expressive and moved by the trials the contestants were made to go through.

I wanted to be real. If someone is putting a cockroach in their mouth, you will feel sick. I can't be standing there and saying how tasty it must have been. It was reality TV and I wanted it to be real, I didn't want to act.

Which contestant did you have a soft corner for?

I had a soft corner for Manjot, he had just turned 18 and he was competing with men. He came back in the wild card and earned a safety band.

Would you ever consider becoming a contestant on a show?

‘KKK' was an experiment for me, I'm an actor and I just wanted to do something interesting.

If you had to make your Anjaana Anjaani co-star Ranbir do one stunt in ‘KKK' which would it be?

First, there is no way Ranbir can take part in ‘KKK'. And even if he does, he will lose out in the first round. The only way he can stay and win is if I do some cheating which I will do for him.

As for the stunt, I would put Ranbir in a room with 15 beautiful ladies and ask that he not talk or look at any one of them. I'm sure he cannot do that.

How did Anjaana Anjaani happen to you?

I have never done a love story before this; though I have done rom-coms such as Dostana and Mujhse Shaadi Karoge . Sajid (Nadiadwala) Bhai and I wanted to work with each other after I worked in his production, Mujhse Shaadi Karoge ; but something or the other didn't work out. Then one day he called me and said ‘I'm making a film with Siddharth Anand and Ranbir'. So I met Sid and he narrated a script to me which was not Anjaana Anjaani ; and it didn't quite work for me.

Then Sajid came to me with Anjaana Anjaani . The film is not a conventional love story; it starts with both of them on the verge of ending their lives.

What would be a good enough reason for you to fall in love with a stranger?

Every person whom you know has been a stranger to you at some point of time. So you fall in love with an anjaana . Love doesn't happen depending on whether you know the person or not.

An interesting love story would be when two people don't know each other at all. If two friends fall in love there is a comfort level, which is fine. But here you get time to discover each other, then that becomes the journey.

Another good reason would be you don't know how many girlfriends he's had and he also doesn't know about you. Also, if you don't like each other's company in the first five days, then you can just leave the person, it won't hurt much.

How was it working with Ranbir?

He is a very good actor, a very good person ( smiles ). The best part is he is down to earth.

You look stylish in the film.

My look has been done by Manish Malhotra and this is my first film, where we wear winter clothes when it is cold … otherwise we wear chiffon saris in the Rohtang pass!

Are you working with Ranbir again?

Yes, I'm working with Ranbir again; the film's working title is Silence , and it is to be directed by Anurag Basu.

And when will Saat Khoon Maaf release?

There is still time left. It is my most ambitious film — I play women of various ages — from 21 to 65.
