Sharran Kumar is excited that two of his films are nearing completion — Vendhar Movies’ Production Uyirukku Uyiraga (UU), a youth-oriented film with a message for the students and CSK — Life Is Not A Game . UU was extensively shot on SRM University campus and Sharran Kumar is paired with Preeti Das. Says Sharran Kumar, “The story is about student life, father-son relationship and includes a lot of family sentiment. I understand that UU is likely to release by early December. Meanwhile, CSK is in its post-production stage. While I am reading a few scripts offered to me, I would like to wait for UU to be released before I decide on my next film.”
The juggling act
While doing her Computer Science degree, Deekshitha finished runner-up in Miss South India 2013. Expectedly a film offer came her way, and Deekshitha was in a fix. “I had one more year to go, but I managed to juggle the dates so that I didn’t miss too many classes. That’s how I completed my part in Thirumanam Ennum Nikka where I play Nazriya’s friend. It is a character that is crucial to the story. I have now completed one schedule of my second film, untitled, directed by Markx. I play the lead alongside Balaji ( Kaadhal Solla Vandhein ) in the film,” says Deekshitha, who is also a Bharatanatyam and Western-style dancer.
Games people play
When first-time director Caarthick Raju decided to get into direction, he wrote a script based on the popular hide-and-seek games that children play. “For 14 years, I have been involved in visual effects and computer graphics for several films. Then came a stage when I wanted to do something more creative. With encouragement from my friend, cinematographer Velraj, I started writing scripts and learning about direction. When the time was right, I approached S.P. Charan for whom I had earlier worked on visual effects, and he showed a keen interest in the concept I had built into my script. The story is how hide-and-seek continues to be played in adulthood when a thief and a cop come head-to-head. It is a thriller laced with humour. I have cast Dinesh and Aishwarya in the lead, with Bala Saravanan providing humour,” informs Caarthick.
