What it is about…
Paraseega Mannan, produced by K.J. Balakrishnan, highlights the issue of child-trafficking. Besides directing the film and scoring the music for it, J. Suresh has acted in it. Sruthi Lakshmi, Ramesh Kanna, Balaji, Ravi Prakasam, Harthi and Krishnakumar are the others in the cast. The audio of the film was released at a gala function in the city by music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and the first CD was received by actor ‘Jithan’ Ramesh.
Music highlights
The album consists of four songs. ‘Muthaga Muthamittal’ in Darbari Kanada has been beautifully rendered by Unnikrishnan; Pa. Vijay has written the lyrics. ‘Vada Vada,’ written by director Perarasu and sung by Velmurugan, is a typical folk rap number. ‘Vazhvathu Oru Murai,’ by the same lyricist, is a fine song sung by Blaze. ‘Chohaa,’ which comes last on the album, is a Hindi club song penned by Udhaya Kumar and sung by Malgudi Subha.
What they say…
Producer K.J. Balakrishnan: I am running an advertisement agency along with my brother J. Dhilip Kumar. One day we met director Suresh who narrated an interesting storyline to us. We thought it could be made into a beautiful film. Dealing with a sensitive issue, Paraseega Mannan is a story that needs to be told.
Director, hero and music director J. Suresh: I have already directed Ennavale starring Madhavan and Sneha in Tamil, and Junior Senior featuring Mammootty in Malayalam. I have also directed Telugu films. Paraseega Mannan is my sixth directorial venture and I have also played the hero in it. Besides, it was Yuvan who encouraged me to score the music for it. I come from a family of musicians — my mother is a Carnatic singer and my sister, a veena player. I know to play the mridangam. All the songs in this film are raga-based and I’m glad the film has come out well.
