BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi on Tuesday apologised to the party leaders and workers for letting them down after the party suffered a huge loss in the Delhi elections.
“I want to thank the BJP leadership which reposed trust in me. I apologise to every one...I could not fulfill their expectation," Ms. Bedi told reporters outside her South Delhi residence after the result from her constituency was declared.
Ms. Bedi lost to AAP candidate S.K. Bagga from Krishna Nagar, which has been a traditional stronghold of the BJP. Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has won the seat five times from 1993 to 2013.
However, in her post-defeat speech that could embarass Dr. Vardhan, Ms. Bedi said that had she won the seat, “it could have taken two months just to clean the constituency” and that it lacks in basic amenities.
Ms. Bedi also thanked the party for “making her the CM candidate without demanding any money from her.”
