Money has made BJP arrogant: Rahul Gandhi in Meghalaya
Rahul Gandhi underlined the “anti-Christian agenda” of the BJP and its mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, while speaking at a rally in Meghalaya on Tuesday. A majority of the principal tribes of Meghalaya – Garo, Khasi and Jaintia – are Christians.
“With the RSS, one of the BJP ministers had actually come to Meghalaya to offer crores of rupees to the church. I know BJP has a lot of money... With the money, BJP bought many MPs, MLAs and people from the Congress party,” he said. Money, Mr Gandhi said, has made BJP so arrogant that “they believe they can buy even God”.
Security forces on poll duty leave Tripura
The paramilitary personnel who were deployed in Tripura to oversee the Assembly elections are leaving the State as voting ended on Sunday. They are heading to Nagaland and Meghalaya, where polling will be held on February 27.
Slain RSS member's family meets Amit Shah
BJP president, Amit Shah, who is in Dakshina Kannada for electoral campaign, on Tuesday met the parents of slain Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh member Sharath Madiwala. Sharath's sister, Mallika, submitted a memorandum to Mr. Shah urging the Centre to hand over the investigation of the murder to the National Investigation Agency.
Sharath was murdered by a group of persons in Bantwal on July 7, 2017.
Ms. Mallika later told reporters that the family was not happy with the investigation by the police. The police have arrested 10 persons, including prime accused Sharief, reports Raghava M.
