47,600 candidates take TNPSC Group IV examination in Coimbatore

A total of 47,600 candidates appeared for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Group IV examination in Coimbatore on Sunday.

In a statement issued here, District Collector M. Karunagaran said that the examination was held at 154 centres established at 98 locations across Coimbatore, Mettupalayam, Sulur, Pollachi and Valparai. He inspected the arrangements at some centres including the Ramanathapuram Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Perks Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Singanallur Government Girls Higher Secondary School.

Flying squads headed by District Revenue Officer, Sub-Collector, Revenue Divisional Officers, and Tahsildhars conducted surprise checks.

Video cameras were installed to record the examinations at all venues. Further, five centres located at private colleges, where around 1,000 candidates appeared, were monitored through live web-casting, he added.
