Three years of “corrupt rule” by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has “pushed Delhi’s development back by 30 years”, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State chief Manoj Tiwari alleged here on Monday.
Alleging that the AAP government had become synonymous with “corruption, misconduct and dirty politics”, Mr. Tiwari claimed the people of Delhi saw the AAP government as one run by “urban naxalites”.
“The Delhi BJP will from February 14 [Wednesday] to 22, run a Jan Andolan to expose the failures of the Kejriwal government on the development and administrative fronts and its corrupt deeds,” Mr. Tiwari announced at a press conference here.
A weekly meeting of the Delhi BJP also passed a resolution condemning the “anarchy, corruption and misrule” of the Delhi government, and discussed programmes scheduled and aimed at the “exposure of the Delhi government” over the coming days.
“The nexus of corruption seen between Minister Satyender Jain and official Rishi Raj is unprecedented, and proves how strong the nexus of corruption has become in this government. Corruption in rampant in all departments, be it the PWD or Health,” Mr. Tiwari alleged.
To hold demonstration
While it was used to widely advertising, both within the country abroad, “high standards” of its schools and Mohalla Clinics, recent reports indicating that around 69% of Delhi government schools students had failed in the pre-board school exams spoke volumes on the said standards, he said, adding that most Mohalla Clinics remained closed due to missing doctors or medicines.
Mr. Tiwari announced a demonstration by party workers outside the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday, followed by issuance of a White Paper against the Kejriwal government.
“On Thursday, party workers will approach people at major markets and metro stations to expose the government. This will be followed by an anti-corruption march from Rajghat to the Delhi Secretariat by senior BJP leaders. On Saturday, the party workers and parents of students of government schools will hold demonstration against the falling standards of Delhi government Schools,” Mr. Tiwari said.
