The Aam Aadmi Party continued its attack on the Centre and the Delhi Police on Monday, a day after a woman threw ink on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at Chhatrasal Stadium during an event to celebrate the odd-even scheme. Stating that the incident “smacks of a deep-rooted conspiracy”, the party claimed the Union Home Ministry was yet to initiate an inquiry into the incident. The AAP affirmed that it was part of a “big rehearsal” to possibly “physically harm” the Delhi Chief Minister in the future and that lax security arrangements were deliberately made by the Delhi Police.
On Sunday, Rohini resident Bhavna Arora came close to the stage while Mr. Kejriwal was delivering his speech. She threw ink on him and alleged a “big CNG scam” behind the odd-even formula. The 26-year-old, who claimed to be a member of the Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Sena, was later detained by the police.
Talking about the Aam Aadmi Sena, senior AAP leader Ashutosh said: “The RSS and BJP have a history of propping up such organisations. We need to look at the kind of hate being whipped up against Mr. Kejriwal by them.”
He claimed that “not a single” security personnel escorted the Delhi Chief Minister, who comes under Z-plus category, during his recent train journey from Punjab to Delhi. “I can see a method or a pattern here. There’s a deep conspiracy and it’s a well-known fact that the Delhi Police directly reports to the PMO and not the Home Ministry,” he said in a press conference on Monday.
