No respite from heat wave

MeT forcasted a dry weather and for the heat wave conditions to continue

Heat wave conditions prevailed across North India with Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh recording a maximum temperature of 47.3 degrees Celsius.

The MeT office said that day temperatures rose in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Faizabad, Bareilly divisions and changed little in the remaining divisions in the State. They were markedly above normal in Allahabad division, appreciably above normal in Varanasi, Faizabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly, Jhansi, Agra divisions. The MeT has forecast that weather would remain dry and heat wave conditions will continue in the State in the next two days.

Rain possible

Heat wave continued to sweep Haryana and Punjab on Saturday with temperatures again crossing a few notches above normal but the MeT Department has predicted relief from Sunday evening with possibility of rain or thundershowers at few places in the region.

Chandigarh had a hot day registering a maximum temperature of 41.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.

In Haryana, Ambala (41.6 C), Hisar (43.3 C) and Bhiwani (42.8 C) recorded above normal maximums on Saturday as sweltering conditions continued to prevail in the State.

In Punjab, Amritsar had a hot day at 42.2 degrees C, up two notches while Ludhiana, too, experienced hot weather at 42.5 degrees C. Patiala recorded a maximum of 42.4 degrees C.

A MeT official said here that from Sunday evening people can expect some relief from the blistering heat wave.

Blistering heat in Rajasthan

Blistering heat wave conditions that swept across Rajasthan on Saturday affected the normal life as temperature hovered above 42 degrees Celsius at many places in the State.

According to MeT office, Kota remained the hottest place with recording a maximum of 44.5 degrees C on Saturday.

The MeT office, in a forecast, said the heat wave conditions in areas of Kota, Udaipur and Jaipur divisions are likely to continue. - PTI
