Shiv Kumar Yadav, the cab driver accused of raping an MNC executive in North Delhi last week, had earlier been accused of raping another woman in South Delhi’s Mehrauli. While he spent around seven months in jail during the course of trial, Shiv was subsequently acquitted in the case.
Following arrest in Mathura on Sunday night, he disclosed to the police that three years ago he was accused of sexually assaulting a bar dancer (who was then 22) who boarded his cab to reach Chattarpur. In her complaint, the woman had told the police that she had booked his cab for South Delhi’s Kishangarh in the early hours of December 13, 2011.
It was alleged that Shiv changed his route and drove the woman to a secluded area close to the Chhatarpur farm house where he raped the woman on the rear seat of his car. He later abandoned her in Vasant Kunj when she raised an alarm.
Cracking the whip on Uber, the mobile app based platform through which the victim in the latest case had hired Shiv’s services, the Delhi Government has banned all activities relating to any transport service provided by them.
Shiv will be produced at the Tis Hazari court on Monday.
