A Raipur-bound Indigo flight was forced to return to Hyderabad airport soon after it took off on Wednesday due to a technical glitch in one of the engines. According to a statement from the airline, the plane took off at 10.30 a.m. with 115 passengers aboard and soon developed a technical glitch in one of its engines that resulted in over the limit exhaust gas temperature. The airline said precautionary measures were taken and the plane landed back in the city.
As the plane, an Airbus A 320-232, was not available for immediate use, the airline deployed another plane for the passengers, which took off at 2.10 p.m. The incident comes days after Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) grounded 11 planes, eight of which were Indigo-owned and three of GoAir. These planes, A320 Neo, with a specific make of Pratt & Whitney engines, were grounded following reports of engine failure. An Indigo spokesperson said the plane was not a Neo variant of A320. The incident is now under investigation by the airline and DGCA.
