‘Where are you going if the destination was Phiroze Jeejeebhoy Towers?’ Even before they had finished reading the question, winners of The Hindu Young World Quiz on Saturday had buzzed to reply ‘Bombay Stock Exchange’.

The boys, P. Vikram and N. Raj Kumar from Teja Vidyalaya, came from behind to finish ahead of Manoj Reddy and Sashi Kiran of St. Paul’s School by one point. Both schools are located in Nalgonda district. The nail-biting finals saw six teams brace questions from quizmaster V.V. Ramanan, who while engaging the children in a friendly banter, kept up the momentum until the end. Saturday’s quiz was the 16{+t}{+h}edition of the event.

The winners took home Firefox bicycles along with a goodies bag and certificates presented by actor-director Adivi Sesh of Bahubali fame. The duo from Teja Vidyalaya also clinched the Rs. 1,000 cash prize in a special round sponsored by the State Bank of India. Little Flower High School, The Hyderabad Public School, The Future Kids School and Gitanjali Devshala were other teams that appeared in the final round from 195 teams.

In the junior category, Shraman and Aditya Sai of Sangamitra School edged past 156 teams to enter the finals and win it. Students from The Hyderabad Public School came second while teams from Gitanjali Devshala, The Future Kids School, Army Public School and Sister Stanislavs English School finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. Actor Adivi Sesh expressed pride in the performance of the students and urged they scale greater heights. Janaki Ballav Sahoo, DGM of SBI, was the event’s guest of honour. The event was presented by Vellore Institute of Technology, supported by Kokuyo Camlin and Country Oven.
