A letter threatening to blow up the Marudhaiyar bridge in Ariyalur district has been received by the Ariyalur railway station master.

Written in Tamil, the anonymous letter was received by the official on Tuesday afternoon.

Railway Police sources said the letter, which dared the police to stop the act if they could, warned to execute the threat before June 30. The station master alerted the Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force. The letter bore the names Dhanapal and Vinayagamoorthy, besides that of a photo studio located at Palakkarai in Tiruchi.

Railway Police were conducting investigation into the threat letter. A similar letter threatening to blow up the bridge was sent to the Ariyalur station master in January.
