The new bi-weekly express train between Manamadurai and Chennai (16182/16181) will be introduced from Saturday.
P. Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister, will flag off the inaugural special at Manamadurai railway station at 8.15 p.m.
The regular service of the train will commence from June 26 from Chennai Egmore and from June 27 from Manamadurai.
The train Chennai Egmore – Manamadurai (bi-weekly) Express (16181) will leave Chennai Egmore at 8.20 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays and reach Manamadurai at 7.45 a.m. It will have stop at Tiruchi for 10 minutes from 3.30 a.m.
In the return direction, the train (16182) will leave Manamadurai at 8.15 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and reach Chennai Egmore at 6.05 a.m. the next day.
It will stop at Tiruchi for 10 minutes from 11.45 p.m. It will also stop at Chennai Mambalam.
Composition
The composition of the trains will be one AC 2-tier, two AC 3-tier, six sleeper class, six general second class, and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches.
The trains will go via Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Melmaruvathur, Villupuram, Vriddhachalam, Tiruchi, Pudukottai, Chettinad, Karaikudi, Devakottai Road, and Sivaganga.
Advance reservation for the inaugural special and regular trains has already commenced, according to a release from the Tiruchi Railway Division here on Thursday.
