Hundreds of students, especially Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirants, got richly benefited by the motivational talk by civil services examination achievers, organised by the Joint Action Forum as part of the felicitation to the all India topper Tina Dabi by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu here on Monday.
Youngsters from Andhra Pradesh, who cracked the ‘toughest examination in the world’, gave their insight into the various aspects involved in realising the dream of becoming a civil servant.
All India Topper Tina Dabi of Delhi asked the students to have patience and advised them to work hard.
“Put in hard work. You will succeed. I used to spend 11 hours for the preparations,” said the country’s youngest IAS officer.
Ch. Ramakrishna (IAS) said anything new would be difficult. “As you start doing it regularly you will begin to like it. This applies to your preparations for the UPSC exam as well. Practice makes you remember things permanently,” he advised.
S. Venkateshwar (IAS) asked the students to prepare in a relaxed manner, “Do not compare with others, and make you own plan. Do not concentrate on victory but concentre on your preparations.”
Guru (IAS), who left his lucrative software job to succeed in the exam, asked the students to remove fear from their minds. “Parents’ support is important and you should explain to them your intentions. You should always look up and aim high.”
Praveen Kumar (IAS), who made six attempts, said he changed seven jobs to realise his dream. “This exam is time consuming. Learn to push harder and failure is not a crime.”
Vidyavathi (IFS) said that as a doctor she was moved by the pathetic condition of the government hospitals and this paved the way for her to take a shot at the civil services exam.
Many achievers emphasised smart work and exhorted the youngsters to keep in touch with society and know about what was happening in the country by reading newspapers and books. “Know about the policies of the government and also about their implementation. Observe the society for you are going to bring in changes in the lives of the fellow human beings as administrators.”
Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, who cracked the exam in Vijayawada and works as an IAS officer, compered the programme.
