Student on way to exam dies in accident

In a tragic incident, a Class-X student who was pillion riding on a two-wheeler and was on his way to the examination centre to write the SSC examination, was killed in a road accident on NH-16 near Tallapalem area under Kasimkota police station limits in the district on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Killadi Srinivas Rao (15), resident of G Singaram area of Kasimkota mandal. The SSC examinations began on Thursday.

The accident occurred when Srinivas and one of his distant relatives P Veeraju (rider) were proceeding on a bike towards the examination centre at Tallapalem.

Sub Inspector of Kasimkota P Madhusudhan Rao said Veeraju lost control over the bike due to over-speeding and hit a road-divider and both of them fell down from the bike on the road.

Srinivas died on the spot due to with head injuries while Veeraju suffered injuries.

However, the locals alleged that the bike was hit by a speeding car and the police failed to intercept the car.

The boy’s father K Kantha Rao and a few others claimed that it was a case of hit and run.

Dismissing the allegations, the police have registered a case against the bike rider P Veeraju under Section 304 A of IPC (causing death due to negligence) and investigation is on. The police shifted the body of the boy to NTR Hospital in Anakapalle for post-mortem.
