A(H1N1): death toll in city raises to six

Eleven new A(H1N1) positive cases were reported in the State on Sunday, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 106. Of the 11, nine were reported positive from the city-based Manipal Hospital Laboratory at the HAL Airport Road.

Health Minister U.T. Khader said that the toll in the State stood at nine, of which six are from the city.

He said the department was yet to collate where and when the deaths were reported and said that the details would be announced on Monday.

While officials in Vijayapura said that a 19-year-old girl died on Sunday, Health Department officials here said they had no information on it.

Mr. Khader said that a meeting had been called with the department officials on Monday to review the surveillance mechanism in the State.

All district health officers will participate in a videoconference.
