Jallikattu claims four lives
Jallikattu, the annual event, organised coinciding with ‘kanum pongal’ turned chaotic when villagers let loose bulls in the open in Siravayal, in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu. On being booed by the crowd, the bulls went berserk and ran into the crowd, goring two persons to death and injuring 46 people. Four people were killed in such incidents across the state.

Netanyahu in Agra

South Korean charged with murder at Hong Kong
A South Korean man was formally charged on Tuesday with murdering his wife and six-year-old son at the five-star Ritz-Carlton hotel in Hong Kong. Kim Min-ho, 42, was arrested after police found the bodies of his wife, Song Wha-jeong, 42, and son, Kim Tae-yun, on Sunday in a suite at the hotel which overlooks the financial centre's Victoria Harbour. Mr. Kim appeared in court wearing a dark blue jacket and hood. Slightly balding and wearing glasses, Kim stared blankly across the room as the two charges were read to him in Korean by an interpreter. He had been photographed earlier in hospital with his left hand bandaged and escorted by police officers. When asked whether he understood the charges, he said, “yes, I do” quietly.
Hong Kong court to rule later
Judges at Hong Kong's top court said they would issue their decision at a later, unspecified date following the appeal hearing for Joshua Wong, Nathan Law and Alex Chow against the sentences of up to eight months. Bail for the three was extended. The three were initially let off with suspended or community service sentences after they were convicted of taking part in or inciting an unlawful assembly by storming a courtyard at government headquarters to kick-off the protests. But the case sparked controversy when the justice secretary requested a sentencing review that resulted in stiffer sentences, raising concerns about rule of law and fears that the city's Beijing-backed government is tightening up on dissent.

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami is witnessing the jallikattu at Alanganallur near Madurai on Tuesday. The much-anticipated Jallikkattu at Alanganallur in Madurai district will see the best tamer and rearer take home cars as prizes. “At the world-famous Alanganallur Jallikkattu, Chief Minister K. Palaniswami will give away a Renault car as prize for the best bull tamer,” Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister R.B. Udhayakumar told reporters in Madurai. The best bull rearer will take home a Hyundai car, to be given away by Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam.
Chained siblings
A California couple has been charged with torture after police rescued their 13 malnourished children from a home where some of them had been chained to beds, and neighbours on Monday described the family as shut-ins who shunned social contact. Police made the discovery after a 17-year-old girl escaped the house in Perris, about 70 miles (113 km) east of Los Angeles, and used a cellular phone she had found in the house to call them, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office said on Monday.
