AP capital city to have 9 cities, metro corridors

The AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) is proposing to build nine sub cities and three metro rail corridors in Amaravati. Each city will be spread over 6,000 acres and have its own ecosystem. They will be completed by December 2018.

The capital city will be divided into nine small areas each of which is dedicated to activities such as governance, finance, tourism, knowledge, health, electronics, media, justice, and sports. The CRDA is also according priority to natural resources, ecology, water tanks, canals, and rivers.

The capital will have a central business district and a riverfront of about 17 km. It will built on two grids — roads and water. The seed capital area will be spread over 16.9 sq. km. It will be well-connected to the airport and Vijayawada and Guntur through road. It will have a metro link with three corridors.

The CRDA has sought objections, modifications, and suggestions for the draft notification released on its website within a period of 30 days.
