Kiran meeting Governor sparks speculation

Updated - November 17, 2021 03:32 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan here on Monday evening and held an hour-long discussion triggering speculation that it could be over change in portfolios of some Ministers.

Significance is being attached to the meeting as Mr. Reddy is planning to go to Delhi in a couple of days’ time. His Delhi visit itself comes in the wake of four senior Ministers holding a meeting with PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana on the manner in which the “Bangaru Talli” scheme was launched without informing them. Mr. Reddy is believed to have had a lengthy discussion on various issues, including the list of MLCs to be nominated by the Governor and implementation of schemes, especially those that were launched recently. He is expected to take the list of probable MLCs to the AICC to seek its approval.

For some time now, questions were being raised over the continuance of the Ministers against whom Supreme Court had served notices in the Jagan assets case. More importantly, one of them, Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, was also named in a charge-sheet filed by the CBI in a special court. There was speculation that her portfolio could be changed. But after staying away from Secretariat, she resumed work recently.
