Learning mathematics has been tough for many students for long. But they find learning maths a fun now thanks to introduction of abacus method of teaching, says Ms N. Premalatha, Director, Excel Abacus IQR.
“Abacus method of learning is a boon for children studying between class II and VI to grasp the basics of problem-solving capabilities the natural way,” she said after conducting a district-level competition for the enrolled students at the Bhashyam Public School here on Friday. “Our students crack arithmetic problems in no time now thanks to abacus,” school academic in-charge N.Susheela added with a sense of satisfaction.
“Learning abacus stimulates brain functioning. The learner acquires skills in listening, grasping, memory, recollection and concentration,” she added while screening students for the State-level competition in Guntur on coming Sunday. The national-level competition would be conducted in Chennai during February, she informed.
“We also teach Vedic maths to students of classes VI to X to improve their problem-solving abilities,” added Ms Premalatha, herself a child psychologist.
