Officials of the Commercial Wing of the South Central Railway (SCR) conducted bus raids on several moving trains and booked cases against ticket less passengers and those travelling in ladies and Divyang Jan compartments.

Following the directions of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) P. Srinivas, the Travelling Ticket Examiners’ (TTEs) squad, along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel conducted the raids in Ongole and Tenali stations, said Senior Divisional Commercial Manager P. Bhaskar Reddy.

As many as 35 TTEs, under the supervision of Assistant Commercial Manager K. Kamalakara Babu, followed the moving trains on bus and caught the ticketless passengers, irregular travellers, and those who boarded the compartments allotted for Divyang Jan and women, in the early hours on Friday.

“The teams checked 21 trains travelling to different directions and booked 787 cases. They collected ₹3.61 lakh as penalty,” said Mr. Bhaskar Reddy.

DCM K. Rajendra Prasad said that TTEs, besides booking cases, are requested to educate the passengers on their rights and not to allow unauthorised commuters into Divyang Jan and ladies bogies and reserved coaches, to prevent thefts and inconvenience to patients and other passengers.

Bus raids on moving trains will continue, the Sr. DCM warned.

Workshop

SCR, Vijayawada division, has conducted a one-day workshop for booking clerks, TTEs and other front line staff on e-ticketing (Unreserved Ticketing System through mobile App), on Friday.

DCM Mr. Rajendra Prasad clarified the doubts raised by the staff on paperless ticketing and asked them to encourage the passengers on UTS.
