Three held, 80 red sanders logs seized

Police and forest officials arrested three persons and seized 80 red sander logs worth about Rs. 70 lakh which were being transported by a van near Vanipenta in Mydukur mandal on Thursday. The accused have been identified as Bukke Giri Naik, Bukke Jamla Naik and T. Ravi, the van driver, all hailing from Diguvamitta hamlet of Giddalur in Prakasam district. A case was registered under the A.P. Forest Act, Section 51 of Wildlife Protection Act and Section 51 of Biodiversity Act, Mydukur Urban Circle Inspector Y. Venkateswarlu said. Proddatur DFO Sivasankara Reddy inspected the seized logs at the Vanipenta forest office.
