Passengers travelling in the Guntakal-Tirupati passenger train counted anxious moments on Monday when several bogies of the diesel locomotive were left behind after those got detached from the engine which moved ahead, just outside the Guntakal railway junction.

According to railway officials, a few tail-end bogies got disconnected just a few kilometres away from the Guntakal junction while the engine continued to move on.

The train driver realised it only after observing the sudden surge in the speed of the locomotive and tried to bring the train to halt. By the time the train stopped, the engine had already covered almost a kilometre. Subsequently, another locomotive was sent to pull through the disconnected bogies safely to Guntakal junction.
