Days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit West Bengal, Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan who arrived here on Friday heaped praises on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Describing Ms. Banerjee as “dynamic” person and as a “fighter” the Minister said he would pay a “courtesy” call to the Chief Minister during his stay in Kolkata.
“As for Mamata ji, the whole country knows she is a fighter and the way she fought her way up to that position in which she is and she certainly has some good qualities which should be appreciated but we should not get into politics in everything.” Mr. Vardhan said.
The remarks made by the Minister are crucial as Ms. Banerjee is one of the most vocal critics of the BJP-led government at the Centre and Mr. Modi.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit West Bengal next week.
