The Haryana Railway Police on Saturday arrested another accused in connection with the murder last month of a teenager, Junaid, on a local train from Delhi to Mathura .

The police claimed that the accused had confessed to having stabbed Juniad and injured his two brothers.

The accused was arrested from Dhule district in Maharashtra and will be produced at a local court in Faridabad on July 9, said a press statement issued by the Haryana Railway Police. The identity of the accused has not been revealed.

Junaid was returning home from Delhi in a local train along with his brother Hasib and two friends on June 22 when some men entered into an altercation with him over seat sharing. The scuffle turned violent when one of the passengers attacked him and his two brothers with knife. Junaid, 15, was declared brought dead at a civil hospital in Palwal.

Five persons, including four from Khambi village in Palwal, have been arrested in this case so far.

The police claim that one of the accused, Rameshwar Sharma, 55, a Municipal Corporation of Delhi employee, had started argument with Junaid and his friends at Okhla railway station. The prime accused arrested on Saturday is not related to the five persons arrested earlier.

On Tuesday, the Haryana Railway Police had announced a reward of Rs. 2 lakh for any information leading to his arrest.

A GRP statement said a team was sent to Dhule following on a tip-off that the accused was hiding there.

Fifteen-year-old Junaid was stabbed to death while his brothers Hasib and Shakir were abused and beaten by a mob between Okhla and Ballabgarh railway stations on June 23.

The scuffle had escalated at Ballabgarh when Junaid’s brother Shakir and his two friends had got onto the train. The prime accused allegedly jumped off the coach after stabbing Junaid and his two brothers when the train halted at Asaoti railway station.

The killing on June 22 had triggered nationwide outrage.
