Grand Janmashtami celebrations

ISKCON Hubballi-Dharwad has planned a grand celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami and around 40,000 people are expected to participate in it on August 25.

President of ISKCON Hubballi Dharwad Rajiv Lochan Dasa told presspersons here on Saturday that the rituals as part of the Janmashtami celebrations would begin as early as 4.30 a.m. on August 25 and would go on till midnight.

Apart from various rituals, cultural programmes are being held as part of the celebrations. Mr. Dasa said that folk dance from students of N.K. Thakkar and Sukruti School, a dance drama Radha Vilas from danseuse Hema Waghmode and troupe, another dance drama Sri Krishna Parikshana by danseuse Sahana Bhat and troupe and a vocal performance by M.V. Shrimati and Vatsalya Satsang team were being held as part of the Janmashtami.

A grand Mahabhisheka would begin at 9.30 a.m. at the new auditorium of the Radha Krishna Temple and cultural complex and conclude with Mahamangalaarati at midnight, he said.

As the ISKCON temple is located at Rayapura in between Hubballi and Dharwad, public transport facility was being made available between 11 p.m. and 1.30 a.m. and adequate parking space had been provided, Mr. Dasa said.
