Keeping aside all differences, every individual should consider himself a human being first, Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama has said. He was speaking to presspersons during his brief stay in Hassan en route Tibetan settlements at Bylakuppe on Tuesday.

“I don’t call myself a holy person. I am just a human being ... one among seven billion on the Earth. Identities like Buddhist or Tibetan are secondary,” he said . Saying that too much emphasis on differences would create problems, he said every individual should accept the basic identity of human being. “Using the armed forces to resolve crisis is the old pattern of the 20th Century. We are in the 21st Century and this should be a peaceful century,” he said.
