The Lokayukta police on Thursday carried out simultaneous raids on five officials, including a senior Indian Forest Service officer, and unearthed assets worth Rs. 15 crore that were disproportionate to their known sources of income.
Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Managing Director of Mysore Sales International Ltd. Hari Kumar Jha, a 1987-batch officer, was found to have assets worth Rs. 1.74 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income. He owned a commercial complex being constructed at HSR Layout, a house in RMV III Stage and a site in Karishma Hills in Bangalore as well as 4.26 acres in Madhubani, Bihar.
However, the biggest catch was Public Works Department Superintendent Engineer B.L. Ravindra Babu, who joined service in 1984. He was found to be in possession of assets worth Rs. 9.04 crore more than his known sources of income.
He was found to be in possession of a residential house and a building being constructed at Jayanagar 1st Block, a commercial complex and a site in Jayanagar 4th T Block, a CA site in J.P. Nagar II Phase and 3 acres in Kaggalahalli, totally worth Rs. 8.23 crore. In addition, he also owns a fleet of four cars, 1.25 kg of gold and 2.75 kg of silver and cash.
KSRTC officialKSRTC Director (Finance) S. Padmanabhan was found to be in possession of assets worth Rs. 2.35 crore more than his known sources of income.
His assets include immovable property worth Rs. 2.96 crore and movable properties worth Rs. 19.5 lakh, including jewellery and vehicles. Three bank lockers were yet to be verified, a release said. KIADB Assistant Secretary R. Bhaskar was found to be in possession of assets worth Rs. 89.05 lakh more than his known sources of income. They include immovable assets worth Rs. 1.18 crore and movable assets worth Rs. 16.05 lakh.
Deputy Commissioner (Excise) Srinivasmurthy was found to be in possession of assets worth Rs. 1.65 crore more than his known sources of income. He owns immovable properties worth Rs. 1.51 crore and movable properties worth Rs. 66.71 lakh.
