After a delay of four months, the city’s next Mayor B.S. Sathyanarayana and Deputy Mayor Indira were elected unopposed on Wednesday.

The election was conducted by the Regional Commissioner Gaurav Gupta.

With no other councillors filing nominations to either of the posts, the election of Mr. Sathyanarayana and Ms. Indira was unanimous.

The new Mayor said that he would prioritise filling potholes on roads and development of lakes. He also said that if required, a supplementary budget would be presented to cover the neglected areas.

Ms. Indira said she would concentrate on education and health sectors, besides garbage disposal and welfare schemes.
