Basavaraj Rayaraddi, Minister for Higher Education, said that he was planning to convene a Vice-Chancellors’ summit in July to discuss about the problems facing the universities, colleges, students.
“There are 23 universities and there were several problems in higher education, including shortage of teaching staff, coming in the way of imparting quality education, lack of infrastructure facilities problems faced by students and the like,” he said.
Mr. Rayaraddi said that he was contemplating establishing a School of Economics of international standard at Bengaluru and hoped that the industrialists would extend their helping hand in this regard.
Apart from that he had proposed to set up railway engineering colleges in each of the four Revenue divisions of the State besides introducing course in aeronautical engineering in Bengaluru .
