A large screen, a projector, a computer and students engrossed in lessons played out on a wide screen, taking notes.

Such classroom may be common in private schools, but surely not in a government school. But this is a scene from the government high school in Jal Nagar locality of the city and the man behind it is Jagadish Gulaganji, who has spent his own money to make his class “smart”.

“The students learn quickly and understand the subject when lessons are taught by incorporating visuals and sound. With this objective, I decided to install the facility in the school,” he says. This system, which he introduced over a year ago, has seen a positive change, which includes increase of attendance in the students.

While he has collected some compact disks (CDs) from the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), he has purchased others from market.

Shantakumar Paragond, class X student, says the new method has made the students learn subjects more easily. All government schools should have such a facility, he adds.
