Two arrested on charge of disobeying court summons

Two persons, including the former MLC K.T. Srikante Gowda, were arrested and sent to Mandya District prison here on Tuesday, on the charge of disobeying court summons served in connection with a case.

Mr. Srikante Gowda and Siddarame Gowda, former chairman of Mysore Sugar Company Ltd., had allegedly stopped a train during Cauvery agitation in Mandya in 2008. A case, under various certain sections of the Indian Railway Act, had been registered against the duo, apart from others, in connection with the issue.

In spite of summons, they were not attending the court hearing. The Judicial Magistrate First Class Court ordered their arrest immediately on their arrival at the court. the police sources said. Later, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested the duo and sent them to the jail. The duo, urged the State government to withdraw all cases registered against those involved in Cauvery agitation.
