Watch celestial bodies on Saturday

Updated - November 06, 2015 05:36 am IST - Udupi

: A.P. Bhat, Head of the Department of Physics at Poornaprajna College and Coordinator of Poornaprajna Amateur Astronomers Club said on Thursday that interested stargazers will be able to watch planets such as Venus, Mars and Jupiter almost in a line and a crescent moon below them from 5 a.m. onwards on November 7.

In a press release issued here, Prof. Bhat said these celestial bodies would be visible for a few more days. “Though we might feel that all these celestial bodies are at same distance from the Earth, this is not so.

The Moon will be at the distance of 4,05,000 km, while Venus will be 120 million kilometres away, Mars at 330 million km, and Jupiter, 890 million km from the Earth, on November 7,” he said.

But the visibility of these celestial bodies will also depend on the clouds, he added. For details, call Prof. Bhat on 9448309077.
