Delhi court on Friday further extended the police remand of Karti Chidambaram for three more days till March 11 in the INX Media case.

The decision followed the CBI’s submission that in the past two days voluminous documents have been recovered having direct bearing on the offences under investigation.

Extending his police remand for third consecutive time, Special Judge Sunil Rana said: “I am of view that the CBI has been able to give sufficient ground and justified reason to show that it is possible to uphold the contention that for the purpose of further investigation, further custody of the accused is necessary...’’

Mr. Rana asked the CBI to produce the accused on March 12 at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the court asked the agency to file a reply to Mr. Karti Chidambaram’s bail application and fixed March 15 for the hearing.

Earlier, appearing for the CBI, Additional Solicitor-General Tushar Mehta submitted that search operations conducted at the office of Messrs Advantage Strategic at Chennai had resulted in seizure of several documents connected with the case.

He submitted that the address of the companyhad came to the CBI’s knowledge recently, and hence it had conducted raids at this address on March 7 and 8.
