Survey dept’s clean chit to D-Cinemaas

Published - August 03, 2017 12:51 am IST - Thrissur/kochi

The Survey Department, which measured the land where D-Cinemaas, the multiplex owned by actor Dileep at Chalakudy, is situated, has found that the land has not been encroached.

The department reached the conclusion after checking documents of 30 years. Documents before that period were not available.

There were allegations that the land where the multiplex is situated was originally owned by an erstwhile royal family and was handed over to a nearby temple to construct a Oottupura. But no documents were available to prove this allegation, sources said.

Lawyer held, out on bail

Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the actor abduction and sexual assault case on Wednesday arrested and later released on bail lawyer Raju Joseph on charge of destroying the mobile phone and memory card containing images of the assault.

The arrested was the junior of the main accused ‘Pulsar’ Suni’s first counsel Prateesh Chacko. His car had been seized on the ground that key evidence were taken in the car for destruction.

Mr. Joseph was summoned to Aluva Police Club around 4 p.m. This was after Prateesh Chacko told the police during an earlier interrogation that he had handed over the phone and the memory card to his junior who in turn destroyed it.

The SIT recorded statements of relatives of Dileep and Manju Warrier. Dileep’s brother-in-law Sooraj and Madhu Warrier, brother of Dileep’s former wife Manju, were the ones questioned.
