An eight-year-old girl, suspected to be kidnapped 10 days back and sexually harassed, was rescued by the railway police from Berhampur railway station in Odisha on December 4 night.
The girl was sent to MKCG medical college and hospital on Saturday for medical examination. Ganjam Superintendent of Police Narasingha Bhola enquired about her condition and said that the girl has been identified as a resident of Kaudia village under Patapur police station in Ganjam district. She has been missing from her village since November 25. A case had been registered in the Patapur police station.
At around 10.45 p.m. on December 4 night, the railway police personnel had found the girl crying at Berhampur railway station. She was also bleeding hinting at a possibility of sexual harassment. It is suspected that some person known to her may be involved in her kidnapping and sexual harassment. Two police teams have been formed to investigate the case. One team has started enquiry at Berhampur railway station and the other team is investigating at the village of the victim, said the SP.
On November 25, the victim along with her brother had visited Kartik Purnima festivities at the village. She had gone missing and her family members had not been able to locate her.
