7.11 p.m.: "Tentative figure comes to 82.54 per cent. The final figure is after compilation," said Tamil Nadu CEO Sandeep Saxena.

5.13 p.m.: Upto 5 p.m., male votes came to 75.9 per cent and female voters were at 77.8 per cent.

5 p.m.: 76.85 per cent voter turnout till 5 p.m.

3.15 p.m.: 62.5 per cent voter turn out by 3 pm

2.36 p.m.: Polling at one booth in Mutharasanallur was suspended for an hour and resumed after the EVM was replaced.

12:47 p.m.: Four persons from Tirupur detained by police at Perugamani as outsiders have been asked to leave the constituency after campaign.

12.42 p.m.: Voters with repeat entries in electoral rolls asked to furnish a declaration that they have not cast their vote anywhere else. Presiding officers given separate list of such entries.

11.00 a.m.: Officials said that nearly 30 per cent voters have exercised their franchise till 11. am. Rural areas witness high voter turnout. 40% polling reported in a few booths in villages.

10.30 a.m.: Impressive turnout of women at Inamkulathur.

9.00 a.m.: About 16.2% voter turnout, says Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer's office.

8.47 a.m.: Polling delayed by 45 minutes at Olaiyur booth due to EVM snag. Polling underway after the snag was rectified.

7.25 a.m.: Earlier, more than Rs. 48 lakh was seized in Srirangam from various vehicles ahead of the by-poll. “During inspection by various squads, 17,250 vehicles have been checked and a sum of Rs. 48,76,500 seized so far,” a release from the office of Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer, Sandeep Saxena, said. >Read more
