Members of six prominent trade unions on Monday laid siege to the Labour Department office here alleging that clearing financial assistance meant for workers through welfare boards was getting delayed.
The AITUC, CITU, INTUC, HMS, BMS, and LPF participated in the agitation.
They said that officials should not insist on Aadhaar card for registration as members of various welfare boards.
“In Tirupur district, Aadhaar cards coverage has not yet been completed. In such circumstances, it is not appropriate to delay the enrolment of workers,” said N. Sekar, district president of AITUC.
