Wyra MLA Banoth Madan Lal, who resigned from the YSRC a few days ago, left for Hyderabad from here in a convoy of cars on Monday morning to join the TRS in Hyderabad.
Amid much fanfare, Mr Lal, accompanied by two MPPs, 20 sarpanches and 10 MPTC members, proceeded to Hyderabad to join the ruling party in the presence of Chief Minister and TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao in the State capital.
“Bleak future” It may be noted that Mr Lal resigned from the YSRC citing “bleak future” for the YSRC in Telangana State and his inclination to develop his ST reserved constituency in all spheres by joining the ruling party. His resignation came as a big blow to the YSRC, which sprang a surprise by winning three Assembly seats including Wyra besides Khammam Lok Sabha seat in the recent general elections in the district.
Meanwhile, Yellendu MLA Koram Kanakaiah, who already tendered his resignation to the Congress, left for Hyderabad in a long motorcade along with scores of his supporters from Yellendu in the morning.
Futile attempts Last minute efforts by senior Congress leaders of the district to retain the tribal MLA in the party proved futile. The Congress, which bagged four Assembly seats in the district in the recent general elections, suffered an unexpected jolt following the resignation of Mr Kanakaiah to the party.
