Accusing JD(S) leaders of indulging in land grabbing in Karnataka, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said he was “seriously” thinking of taking back the land and distributing it among the poor people.
“...our party had taken a decision to give advertisements in all India newspapers about the land scam in Mysore district and within three-four days we are going to publish Hassan affairs (cases of land grabbing there),” Mr. Yeddyurappa told reporters here.
He said this when his reaction was sought on advertisements published by BJP in newspapers alleging land grabbing during the tenure of JD(S) leaders H D Devegowda and H D Kumaraswamy as Karnataka chief ministers.
“I am going to visit that spot in Hassan and I am thinking of taking back the land and distributing it among the SC & ST people there,” he said.
Mr. Yeddyurappa, however, said he has not discussed these issues with the BJP leaders here.
Asked if he would look into the cases of alleged land grabbing by other leaders too, he said, “About 81 acres, I am seriously thinking of taking it back and distributing to the poor people.”
The Karnataka Chief Minister said he has also ordered officials to give details of land grabbing cases in Hassan district.
Emerging out of a meeting with senior BJP leaders L K Advani and Rajnath Singh, he said, “All are happy” with the state of affairs in Karnataka.
Mr. Yeddyurappa, who managed to save his post despite corruption charges, is learnt to have thanked the BJP leaders for reposing faith in him.
