Jagan Kumar signed off the season in style as he led a TVS Racing podium sweep in the Group B (Open) class to clinch his fifth national title in the MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship at the MMRT here on Sunday. K.Y. Ahamed and Kannan Subramani rounded up the remaining podium positions.

The 26-year-old Jagan, the first Indian winner in the Asian Road Racing championship last year, had sealed the title on Saturday winning the first race. On Sunday he once again dominated proceedings.

After a slow start over the initial few laps he took the lead and pulled away from the rest of the pack to coast to his sixth win of the season and finish with 162 points.

Teammates Harry Sylvester (114) and Ahamed (113) finished in the top three in the standings emphasising the dominance of TVS Racing.

Jagan’s previous national titles include the 2009 (125cc Novice), 2012 (165cc, Group B), 2013 and 2014 (Group C, Open).

Speaking about his fifth title, Jagan said, “I am very happy to win the championship this year. I had a bad start to the season with a puncture and mechanical problems in the early rounds, but this weekend was a nice way to finish.”
