Youth 'tortured to death' by employer, 2 others
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, MARCH 3. In a gruesome incident reported from
Nelamanagala police limits in Bangalore Rural District on
Saturday, a 19-year-old youth's skin was peeled off and nails
plucked out allegedly by his employer. The youth, who was beaten
black and blue, died of injuries.
Police said Muniraju, who was working in a brick laying unit at
Kadabagere village, behind Janapriya Township, had been
physically tortured throughout Friday night by his employer,
Ramesh, and two others.
Police said that Ramesh had reportedly kept Rs. 50,000 at his
house and Muniraju was aware of it. On Friday night when Ramesh
found the cash missing, he suspected Muniraju of having stolen
the money and thus tortured him.
When Muniraju's condition deteriorated, Ramesh brought him to
Nelamangala police station at about 11.30 a.m. on Saturday and
told the police that the villagers had assaulted Muniraju.
However, inquiries made by the police revealed that Ramesh and
his two employees had tortured and assaulted Muniraju through out
Friday night. Muniraju, who was shifted to the Government
Hospital at Nelamangala, died around 11.40 a.m. on Saturday.
Police arrested Ramesh and two others. A case of murder has been
registered.
Ramesh has not filed any complaint about cash being stolen from
his house, police said.
The Bangalore Rural District Superintendent of Police, Mr. S.
Ramakrishna, and the Additional SP, Mr. Shiva Kumar, visited the
spot.
