New BG line cleared for traffic

CHENNAI, MARCH 3. The newly laid broad gauge line from Chennai
Egmore to Tambaram has been cleared for passenger traffic by the
Commissioner of Railway Safety, Mr. Pranab Kumar Sen.
The Commissioner, who inspected the new line on Thursday and
conducted speed trial on Friday declared the line fit for
operating passenger trains at 100 km per hour.
The Commissioner's clearance is mandatory for operating passenger
traffic on a line.
Meanwhile, Southern Railway started operating passenger trains on
the new BG line from Saturday.
