The Sportstar's tribute to the Don
CHENNAI, MAR. 3. In a timely tribute to the incomparable life and
career of the world's greatest cricketer - Sir Don Bradman, who
passed away recently - The Sportstar,a sister publication of The
Hindu, has devoted the best part of two forthcoming issues, dated
March 10 and 17, to the life and times of Bradman the cricketer.
In the issue dated March 10, featuring Bradman on the cover, the
special section on the greatest batsman the game has seen will
run to 35 pages. Apart from specially commissioned articles
authored by Australian and English cricket writers, the special
section will carry tributes to the great man from around the
cricket playing world.
This apart, the special issue will also feature a chapter from
Jack Fingleton's celebrated book, ``Brightly fades the Don.''
As a follow up to the March 10 issue, The Sportstardated March 17
will provide a comprehensive statistical feature on the career of
a man whose magic numbers - in terms of several batting records -
may never be matched. This issue will also carry several articles
with rare photographs apart from excerpts from a television
interview given by Sir Don a few years before his death.
