Of bags and hankies

STYLE: Creations by Ranna Gill

Some are inspired by gypsies, others by the working woman. Wool is an embellishment for some. For others hankies are just right. Find out the latest in trends and accessories.

Inspiration:

If Herge, the creator of Tin Tin, inspires JJ Valaya, Gypsies have made Payal Jain and Ranna Gill's creative juices flow.

STYLE: Creations by Geisha Designs

There are chocolates, polo, Lord Krishna... the list is riveting. Paras of Geisha Designs has decided to make clothes for an intellectual woman who believes in "non-fashion." Says he, "My inspiration is a lady who has travelled across the world and doesn't believe in trends. She wants to incorporate interesting things from different parts of the world."

Trends:

It is hotchpotch with some designers showing Fall Winter 2005 while others showcasing Spring-Summer 2006 keeping in mind their buyers' requirement. Still the look for winter is subtle and sophisticated. The structured forms will return after the fluidity of the summer.

STYLE: Creations by Niki Mahajan

Even those who are pushed by Swarovski are using the subtle variations of the crystal. Breeches will stay in demand, also voluminous skirts and empire line tops. Sari will return in newer avatars but its scope seems limited. Textured embroidery, drapes and detailing are in demand. Wool and coins would be seen as embellishments.

Ivory, beige, black seem to be the colours for winter while those working for summer have conjured a much more colourful look. Natural fabrics will vie for space. And crafts will be used to make statements. Kalamkari, sozni, kantha, Sanganer printing will be seen but on Western outfits.

Accessories:

Something to look out for this year. Embroidered and net hankies, footwear, wrist bags, even holsters would be there.
