Hi-fashion this winter

Cross-body bags and the rugged natural look mark Hidesign's autumn-winter collection

HIDESIGN'S TRENDS this autumn/winter season lean definitely towards the sporty look. Unveiling their new leather collection at an exclusive premiere, models showed off the latest international trends in accessories and jackets, which are now available in India under the Hidesign label.

Rugged, natural and contemporary cross-body bags dominated the new collection with the gym bags acting as a sure example of the sporty look being back in vogue. Shapes and details of the bags vary significantly between the sexes with the women's bags taking on soft, gathered and feminine shapes and the men's bags, largely cross-body in brilliant shades of red, white and brown.

The zips and buckles on the bags are details to look out for; women's bags carry details like weaving and men's bags use webbing as straps and handles.

The trendy look in jackets was conveyed through the classic James Dean-style jacket, easy rider-style motorcycle jackets and washed leather jackets.

Office wear

But the sports look is not the only watchword of the season. Hidesign's collection also contains blazers for office wear this season. The blazer styles focussed on zips and quilted stitching. The colours that dominated the ramp were red, brown and cognac with yellow tones and in combination with more sedate whites. For those buyers apprehensive about pollution, Hidesign claims that its products use vegetable tanning. The bags start from Rs. 1,000 upwards and jackets from Rs. 3,000.

Buckles and rivets, which embellish Hidesign products, are made from high-quality brass. The use of solid brass fittings is a tradition that goes back to the European style of saddle-making and since Hidesign was unable to locate the right kind of supply partners, it started a factory to cast the buckles and rivets.
