Kodaikanal calling

Audio launch of “Kodaikanal”

SIX CATCHY SONGS Kamal Haasan launching the audio of “Kodaikanal”

Vani Mahal was packed with people from the film industry, all waiting for ‘Ulaga Nayagan’ Kamala Haasan to release the cassette of Sri Swarnalakshmi Movies’ “Kodaikanal”, produced by Natham R.Swarnalakshmi and directed by K.Bose. The first CD was received by Bharathiraja along with some of the industry bigwigs. Bharathiraja spoke at length about how he directed and worked with Kamal.

Deva has scored the music and there are six songs in the film. Piraisoodan and Ugabharathi have written three songs each and both have done a good job.

The first in the album is ‘Kasu Kasu Ellame Kasu’ sung by Archith, Malathi and Deva with a group of singers. It is good and young Archith’s voice blends well with the music and with the voices of the other singers, particularly Malathy. Harini’s voice does not leave much of an impact in the song ‘Mettu Mettu Mettu Kattipadu’. Another group, along with Manikkavinayagam and Jayalakshmi, has sung ‘Chekka Sivantha Chirukki’. The timbre of Manikkavinayagam’s voice is an added attraction. ‘Suvaiyanadhu Suvaiyanadhu’ is sung by Tinni and Suchithra, where Tinni scores. Krishnaraj with Pop Shalini’s rendition of ‘Anchu Viralaivichan’ is good. One wonders why Krishnaraj has not gone places with such a good voice. Another good number is ‘Chinna China Kathai’ sung by Krishnaraj, Senthildas and Sathya.
